What, No Coffee?!

coffee jokeThat's right, I have no coffee here at home. No real coffee I should say - I have coarse ground decaf (only in my home in case of guests), best for use in a French Press, which I also don't have access to. How does this happen to a girl who was raised in a coffee shop for the last 16 years, you may ask? I'm asking the same thing right now.

As I sit here with my weak, caffeine-free, sad cup o' joe on a Monday morning, I realize there are many ways this post could be titled. The Best Alternatives for Coffee in the Morning, Where to go for Coffee in South Buffalo When You Have None, How Coffee Makes Me Feel, An Ode to Coffee, My Not-so-Strange Addiction: Coffee, and the list goes on...

The Best Alternatives for Coffee in the Morning

There are no true alternatives to coffee when you wake up and all you can think about is that delicious, aromatic, smooth, bold, hot beverage early in the morning. Things I considered today, as an alternative to the watered down decaf cup I'm avoiding drinking right now: Tea (which is my go-to drink when I'm sick), Hot Chocolate (way too sweet for me in the morning), Evan Williams Egg Nog (could I trick myself into thinking it was coffee since sometimes that's what I use for creamer? No.), Juice (wait, I don't have any of that either), or Thin Mints (looking at the box right now, maybe I'll have some of those to help boost this morning...)

Where to go for Coffee in South Buffalo When You Have None

The only reason I didn't just hop in the car and head to Comfort Zone to work from there is that my house guest has me parked in...

If I could get out there is a McDonalds down the street, which would at least hold me over, but the better alternative in South Buffalo is the Dog Ears Bookstore & Cafe. Truly a respectable cafe with cute seating, food options, and a simple selection of cappuccinos and lattes. But let's face it, if I was going to go that far, I'd just go to work since I have to get there today anyways!

How Coffee Makes Me Feel

Good. Even better, GREAT. Whether it's slightly flavored or just straight-up House Blend, there's something comforting about a cup of coffee. Like all is right with the world, even if it's just for that sip-in-time, coffee makes me feel GREAT...and I miss it.

An Ode to Coffee

Ok, I am no poet, so I don't feel qualified to write an ode, these haikus were the best I could do:

Coffee is my friend,
Coffee never judges me,
Oh how I miss thee.

Dark rich cozy drink,
Cream, sugar, black, slurp it up,
Coffee in my cup.

My Not-so-Strange Addiction: Coffee

No coffee means I'm not ready for a camera crew this morning. I do think this would be a fun episode to see though...no shortage of specimen to report on!

Alright, I've spent enough time moping about my lack of coffee that my house guest is up and moving - Comfort Zone here I come!

Can someone PLEASE remind me to bring home some coffee from work this week!?!

Decaffeinated,

~Zenia
